Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture and Gua Sha are wonderful timeless beauty techniques used by the Chinese since the Song Dynasty (960-1279AD).
Though often referred to as an “Acupuncture Facelift”, it is more than a cosmetic procedure. It is a rejuvenation and revitalization process which boosts the health of the whole body to make you both look and feel younger. From an anti-aging perspective, it is not just a skin deep treatment for temporary effect – it is an energy workout to promote youth and balance from within.
According to Chinese medicine, Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture improves circulation and stimulates the body’s natural anti-aging powers, awakening the skin’s own healing ability to regenerate, firm and lift. Hair-thin needles are gently inserted into specific points on the face to help facilitate the movement of blood and lymph to stimulate the production of collagen, elastin, and cell reproduction and growth. This in turn nourishes, re-hydrates, tones and reduces the appearance of facial wrinkles. Needles are placed in the muscle motor points to re-educate the muscles back to their original placement, thus the face looks more sculpted, more youthful and lifted. Synergistic points are used on the arms, legs and body to further strengthen the body’s energy while decreasing your body’s stress responses, thereby enhancing beauty from the inside out. With this complete holistic treatment, we can achieve a balance between improving exterior facial beauty and strengthening the internal energies that influence beauty.
At Circle of Friends Community Acupuncture Clinic we combine Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture with Facial Rejuvenation Gua Sha. Gua Sha (pronounced GWA-SHA) is a gentle “scraping massage” of the skin which encourages lymph drainage, collagen production, breaks down adhesions and hardness in muscles and fascia, improves natural hydration, and aids the skin’s ability to purge the dirt, sebum, and general buildup in the pores that contributes to acne. Muscle tension, inflexible fascia, and stagnant lymph are three primary causes for aging which clinical skin care products cannot address.
While not a replacement for surgery, Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture and Gua Sha are an excellent alternative. It is far less costly than cosmetic surgery and is safe, virtually painless, has no side effects or risk of disfigurement. Unlike surgery that may have an extended recovery period with swelling and discoloration, there is no trauma from Facial Rejuvenation.
Since the body/mind/spirit are all connected, negative emotions reflect in the face and change the appearance of skin texture, color and tension. Facial Rejuvenation treatments can eliminate stress and bring out innate strength, vitality and health. You will not only look younger but also most certainly feel younger.
A 1996 report in the international Journal of Clinical Acupuncture reported that among 300 cases treated with Cosmetic Acupuncture, 90% had marked effects with one course of treatment.
The effects included:
• Diminished wrinkles
• Increased collagen production, muscle tone, and dermal contraction
• Improved elasticity of facial muscles
• Reduced or eliminated bags under eyes
• Decreased tendency toward sagging and jowls
• Improving of hormonal balance to help acne
• Healthier/brighter complexion
After completing a course of treatment, maintenance sessions will prolong the results. Each patient will be different, but maintenance sessions are generally recommended for once per month. Monthly “touch up” sessions will help you to maintain what you have achieved in your 10 session course of treatment and additional courses of treatment will create even deeper results.
The effects of Facial Acupuncture Rejuvenation have been found to be cumulative and to last up to 3-5 years after a course of treatments, with maintenance sessions. And while beauty is something that many of us strive to maintain, Facial Rejuvenation Treatments also address the strength and health of your entire body – the benefits of which are, essentially, incalculable.
Following the model of cosmetic acupuncture studies (which are based on ancient protocols), a complete course of treatment at Circle of Friends Community Acupuncture Clinic is 10 sessions scheduled 2-3 times per week. Because acupuncture has a cumulative effect that is multiplied when repeated in a short period of time, deeper results cannot be guaranteed unless a full course of treatment is completed within the appropriate time frame, therefore please note: All packages MUST be completed within 10 weeks of your first session.
The following conditions are contraindications to receiving facial rejuvenation acupuncture:
• High Blood Pressure
• Severe Migraines within the last 3 months
• Pituitary disorders
• Acute herpes outbreak
Please note: If you are pregnant or attempting to become pregnant please advise us at the time of your treatment so that we can modify our whole health protocol to suit your body’s special needs.
